Gauteng MEC for Economic Development Qedani Mahlangu has set aside R30 million to assist in the creation of a million jobs for the province’s youth.

She unveiled her plan to secure jobs for a million young people when she launched the Y-Age project in Alexandra on Friday.

The plan involves recruiting 100 000 entrepreneurs to create jobs for young people by teaming up with the South African Centre for Organisational Development (Sacord), a training and consultative company; Hope Africa, a social development arm of the Anglican Church; and Oresego Holdings, international business advisers in strategic communications, consulting and talent management.

Each of the 100 000 entrepreneurs would employ three to five employees in their businesses.

Mahlangu has promised to provide these entrepreneurs with the necessary skills to do business and to monitor the distribution of these government funds.
